Estelle Dubuisson
Founder and President
Born and educated in Haiti, Ms. Estelle Marcellus Dubuisson emigrated to New York where she studied nursing at the Columbia Institute, specializing in the care of babies. Later, she became a licensed Medical Technologist at the Bronx VA Medical Center in New York, having studied at NYC Community College and Manhattan Medical and Dental Assistant School. She has retired from this position.
While raising three children and working as a medical technologist, Ms. Dubuisson began to collect dollars from co-workers to send to Haiti. By 1976, she decided to found Friends of the Children of Lascahobas, Haiti.
Ms. Dubuisson has earned numerous awards for her service and dedication to the community, including the Pierre Toussaint Medallian, Caribbean Mother of the Year award (twice) and a Community Service Award, among others. She has belonged to many organizations, including the International Black Women Congress, the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club and the International Society for Clinical Laboratory Technologists.
